Knowledge economy
Despite some criticism brought to materials written on Emotional Intelligence, the popularity and support this subject has had among business management in the United States and other parts of the world during the past 15 years proves it can successfully be applied in the workplace.
Through training sessions offered by CEFRO during the past years, I have engaged European participants sponsored by the Grundtvig program in courses designed to encourage developing Emotional Intelligence in the workplace.
These very well received courses gave me the opportunity to look deeper and reflect upon the principles guiding, inspiring and driving our actions as well as the path we choose for our lives and our careers. I found it interesting to look at this subject from an ethical perspective, the only one capable of bringing long-term solutions.
At a time when “life-coaching” has proved to be limited in forming personalities, I believe the quality of goals and actions is capable of justifying and bringing happiness to a positive existence. In a recent discussion, a friend argued she did not know anyone around her who makes happiness a goal to strive for, and there surely would be other values one would seek in their lives. Certainly, religion and psychoanalysis approaches are different from philosophy; however it is the latter which can truly provide tools for an independent thought process.
Therefore, I updated my Lifelong Learning project to include the idea of training in Emotional Intelligence from a philosophical and positive psychology perspective (see description in “Liste Cefro” on the right column -CEFRO Professional Services).
