Il est vrai que la Roumanie est en pleine crise politique, et ces conditions ne sont pas les meilleures pour attirer les investisseurs tant désirés. Ceux qui viennent d'ailleurs, ne sont pas des modèles d'intégrité, cela va de soi...Pas très loin, deux cents oligarches russes sont en train d'acheter tout Londres. L'Occident reste silencieux devant le pouvoir des oligarches, dont les liens avec les politiques se tissent discrètement et sûrement. Mais la Roumanie (et ses voisins) n'a pas ce que l'Occident a encore: une longueur démocratique d'avance. La France va faire son choix présidentiel demain. Quel que soit ce choix, et malgré une rhétorique grandiose, le vrai et insoluble problème est  comment créer du travail. Le reste est de la littérature, comme on dit...Bonne chance, anyway!

Rumeurs consolatrices/Referendum

Même si en ces moments j'enregistre plutôt mécaniquement les informations, il y a une qui s'est mieux fixée, diffusée dans les médias roumains: il paraît qu'un important commissaire européen ne pourrait plus vraiment exercer la pression sur les deux derniers, Roumanie et Bulgarie, parce qu'il aurait accepté une invitation au ski de la part du premier-ministre bulgare...Je n'arriverai jamais à comprendre comment des responsables qui ont un bon salaire ne peuvent pas se payer des vacances au ski...

Une pétition adressée aux Roumains de l'étranger circule sur Internet. Version en anglais après la version en roumain. Je l'ai signée et je contribue à ma manière à sa distribution, parfois cela vaut davantage que 1$ -ce que l'hébergeur propose pour le soutien du site. Sorry, no PayPal card...

Unfortunately, the actual political crisis in Romania merely means corruption and the lack of a real project for the country. The reciprocal accusations do not matter too much. In a word,

the major coalition in the parliament maintains that the president has no style, and the president maintains that he is trying to break the financial oligarches who secretely run Romania..

I came in Romania for Easter because my mother was ill, I returned in France and I came back 48h later, on  April 17, just in time to see her at the hospital. She died on April 18, and I am still here for the funeral and for the complicated steps of the orthodoxe rite - I must respect her wish of observing tradition and I do what is possible for me to do.

But you can imagine that despite of these personal afflicted moments, I plunged into Romanian reality, and I feel like another death - the hope for some concrete evolution, after what you call 'a damaged past'.
